Grain spawn is used a started culture for growing mushrooms. It is the equivalent of a mushroom seed. Each seed or grain will act as an inoculation point from where the mycelium will grow outwards for fast and effective colonization.

Additionally, grain spawn contains a large amount of nutrition. It is a safe & effective way to deliver increased nutrition to an otherwise energy sparse substrate without risk of contamination.
